The U.S. Navy has signed a major agreement with Boeing valued at approximately $880 million. The primary purpose of this funding is to significantly upgrade and maintain training systems for aircrews and maintenance personnel operating the P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol and anti-submarine aircraft. This initiative is intended to substantially improve fleet combat readiness and strengthen capabilities for countering underwater threats across the world’s oceans.

The official order covers the procurement, modernization, and long-term support of specialized simulators and other training equipment. The contract is structured as a fixed-price agreement with additional reimbursement for defined costs and was awarded on a non-competitive basis. Under the terms of the deal, Boeing will be responsible for the full lifecycle of the program – from the design, integration, and testing of new technical solutions to the delivery, deployment, and upgrading of existing training systems. This includes associated software, hardware infrastructure, spare parts, and related support services.

The majority of the planned workload – about 80% of the total funding – will be carried out at facilities in St. Louis, Missouri (USA). The remaining tasks will be distributed across U.S. bases in Jacksonville (Florida) and Oak Harbor (Washington), as well as strategic international sites. In particular, the modernization will affect training centers in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Germany, Canada, Singapore, and Norway. The entire program is designed as a long-term initiative scheduled for completion by June 2031, with funding released in stages based on the formation of specific task orders. Responsibility for implementation and coordination of the agreement lies with the Training Division of the Naval Aviation Warfare Center in Orlando, Florida, which oversees the execution of the program.

In parallel with this contract, the aviation manufacturer received additional funding of approximately $55.4 million. This modification to the existing agreement activates a three-year option for the supply of standardized commercial consumables for the P-8A Poseidon aircraft. Alongside this, an initial task order worth $18.5 million was also issued for immediate execution. These activities will be carried out in St. Louis and Seattle and are scheduled to continue through the end of June 2029. The processes are linked to ongoing work conducted by Boeing under the broader program framework.
