As part of an ongoing strategy aimed at reducing the offensive capabilities of the Russian military, units of Ukraine’s Defense Forces carried out a series of overnight strikes on February 12 against key military and defense-industrial facilities located in Russia and in temporarily occupied territories. Among the reported targets was a major storage complex operated by the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate (GRAU) of Russia’s Ministry of Defense, situated near the settlement of Kotluban in the Volgograd region.
The site is considered one of the largest ammunition storage facilities used by the Russian armed forces. According to available information, the strike was conducted using Ukrainian long-range FP-5 “Flamingo” systems (you can find out more about them here). Following the impact, large explosions and subsequent secondary detonations were reported at the storage site. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed.

Separate reports indicate a strike in the city of Michurinsk in Russia’s Tambov region, where Ukraine targeted the Michurinsk Progress Plant. The facility specializes in the production of high-technology equipment for aviation and missile systems and is reportedly involved in supporting the needs of the Russian military. According to preliminary information, a fire broke out on the premises following the attack. Details regarding the consequences and the extent of the damage are still being clarified.

In addition, ammunition depots were reportedly struck in the temporarily occupied areas of the Zaporizhzhia region, near the settlements of Terpinnia and Rozivka. Information regarding the results of these strikes is still being verified.

The facility is located approximately 1,750 kilometers from Ukraine’s state border. According to preliminary reports, the strike caused a fire at the AVT processing unit and the visbreaking unit. The refinery is part of the Lukoil corporate structure and processes roughly 4.2 million tons of crude oil per year.
