As part of an ongoing strategy aimed at reducing the offensive capabilities of the Russian military, units of Ukraine’s Defense Forces carried out a series of overnight strikes on February 12 against key military and defense-industrial facilities located in Russia and in temporarily occupied territories. Among the reported targets was a major storage complex operated by the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate (GRAU) of Russia’s Ministry of Defense, situated near the settlement of Kotluban in the Volgograd region.

The site is considered one of the largest ammunition storage facilities used by the Russian armed forces. According to available information, the strike was conducted using Ukrainian long-range FP-5 “Flamingo” systems (you can find out more about them here). Following the impact, large explosions and subsequent secondary detonations were reported at the storage site. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed.

Separate reports indicate a strike in the city of Michurinsk in Russia’s Tambov region, where Ukraine targeted the Michurinsk Progress Plant. The facility specializes in the production of high-technology equipment for aviation and missile systems and is reportedly involved in supporting the needs of the Russian military. According to preliminary information, a fire broke out on the premises following the attack. Details regarding the consequences and the extent of the damage are still being clarified.

In addition, ammunition depots were reportedly struck in the temporarily occupied areas of the Zaporizhzhia region, near the settlements of Terpinnia and Rozivka. Information regarding the results of these strikes is still being verified.

The consequences of the February 11 strike on the Volgograd Oil Refinery in the Volgograd region have also been confirmed. The attack reportedly damaged the primary crude distillation unit ELOU-AVT-1, elements of the AVT-3 unit, and several infrastructure facilities. Parts of the production capacity, including secondary processing units, have seen reduced output or a complete shutdown. Information regarding actual losses and the full extent of the damage is still being clarified.

At the same time, Ukraine reportedly struck the Ukhta Oil Refinery in the city of Ukhta, Komi Republic. The operation was carried out by units of the Security Service of Ukraine in coordination with other components of the Defense Forces. The facility is located approximately 1,750 kilometers from Ukraine’s state border. According to preliminary reports, the strike caused a fire at the AVT processing unit and the visbreaking unit. The refinery is part of the Lukoil corporate structure and processes roughly 4.2 million tons of crude oil per year.
