The first public demonstration of the launch of the Ukrainian FP-7 ballistic missile, developed by Fire Point, has been released. A video of the launch was published on Twitter by the company’s chief designer and co-owner, Denys Shtilerman. The footage captures the moment of liftoff and the initial phase of the missile’s flight trajectory.

FP-7

The development was first reported in autumn 2025. The missile is described as having a maximum range of up to 200 km and a 150 kg warhead. Its top speed is approximately 5,400 km/h. The FP-7 is capable of reaching altitudes of up to 65 km, with a total flight time of around 250 seconds. The declared circular error probable (CEP) is up to 14 m. According to previous statements from the developers, the FP-7 is based on the 48N6 surface-to-air missile.

The overall layout and aerodynamic configuration of the baseline design have been retained, but the корпус is manufactured from composite materials. At the same time, the internal systems, electronics, and propellant differ entirely from the original. Utilizing an existing structural concept primarily allowed the developers to save time, which was a critical factor.

The FP-7 also incorporates several distinctive features. As with the earlier FP-5 “Flamingo” project, Fire Point opted to accelerate development by simplifying certain technical solutions. Instead of the standard “cold” or “mortar” launch method used in the 48N6 or 5V55 systems – where the missile is first ejected by a charge before the solid rocket motor ignites – the FP-7 employs a conventional “hot” launch. The missile is not launched vertically but travels along a guide rail at an angle, further simplifying the system and reducing deployment time.

Fire Point FP-7

The FP-7 launch system is deliberately simplified and, as in the case of the Flamingo, is mounted on a standard trailer chassis. This approach is relevant not only from the standpoint of manufacturing simplicity, but also in terms of concealment and operational discretion.

The released video shows only the initial phase of flight – the acceleration stage powered by a solid-fuel rocket motor. The propellant for this motor was also developed by Fire Point. Based on the available footage, it can be concluded that at least the FP-7 has demonstrated successful powered flight.

Given that the Flamingo previously struck the Votkinsk Machine Building Plant, where the Iskander and Oreshnik systems are manufactured, it is reasonable to infer that the developer possesses functional guidance technologies.

Fire Point FP-7

The FP-7 is one of two ballistic missile systems currently under development by Fire Point. The larger variant, designated FP-9, is reported to have a maximum range of 855 km and a payload capacity of 800 kg. Its formal codification had previously been projected for summer 2026.
