The Japanese company Terra Drone Corporation, recognized in the field of unmanned technologies and Advanced Air Mobility, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Ukrainian company Amazing Drones LLC, which develops interceptor drones. The investment was made through Terra Inspectioneering, a subsidiary of Terra Drone, with the financial terms of the deal not disclosed. Terra Drone intends to gradually expand its presence in Ukraine and leverage operational experience gained in conflict conditions to inform its international projects.

In recent years, the global security landscape has undergone significant changes. The full-scale conflict in Ukraine has shown that widespread deployment of relatively low-cost unmanned systems can substantially alter force dynamics, challenging traditional approaches based on high-cost and limited-quantity weaponry. The concept of addressing threats using accessible and scalable technologies is increasingly shaping operational norms in the defense sector. Within this context, Terra Drone has entered the defense technology market, aiming to contribute to the development of resilient defense infrastructure by drawing on its international experience with unmanned systems.

The Ukrainian company Amazing Drones develops interceptor drones designed for operational conditions encountered in conflict zones, including environments affected by electronic warfare. Their technologies have been shaped directly through field experience. These systems represent a new generation of defense solutions and can complement or, in some cases, substitute traditional, higher-cost interception systems. Key characteristics include relatively low production costs, scalability, and rapid response capabilities.

These drones are capable of covering distances of up to 32 km and reaching speeds of up to 300 km/h, exceeding the average performance of UAVs such as the Shahed, which operate at around 200 km/h. Low detectability, achieved through minimal noise and thermal signature, is combined with an electric propulsion system and a flight duration of up to 15 minutes. This enables a single unit to complete a full operational cycle, from airspace monitoring to target detection and neutralization.

“Recent developments, particularly in the Middle East, indicate that one of the critical factors in modern conflict scenarios is the availability of effective interceptor drones capable of countering threats such as loitering munitions,” said Toru Tokusige, CEO of Terra Drone Corporation. “In search of effective solutions, I personally visited Ukraine multiple times during the conflict, engaging directly with engineers and industry representatives. Through this process, we observed the high level of engineering expertise at Amazing Drones and their ability to rapidly adapt technologies for operational deployment. This has allowed us to establish a strong partnership built on trust. Combining the field-tested operational experience of Amazing Drones with Terra Drone’s expertise in mass production and quality control represents a significant step toward developing next-generation defense infrastructure. It provides a pathway for delivering reliable solutions that have been validated under operational conditions.”

“What began as a volunteer initiative by engineers and military personnel has now evolved into a significant production hub focused on national defense. Partnering with a global company of Terra Drone’s scale represents an important step in moving from prototyping to stable serial production,” added Maksym Klymenko, CEO of Amazing Drones. “I am confident that Mr. Tokusige’s experience in production scaling, combined with Terra Drone’s international presence, provides a foundation for bringing our technologies to the global market. We expect this partnership to enable our developments to have a broader impact on saving lives in multiple countries.”

Toru and Maxym

Building on its experience in mass production and international development, Terra Drone aims to accelerate the development and deployment of a wide range of unmanned solutions, including interceptor drones, FPV systems, reconnaissance UAVs, and unmanned surface vehicles. In collaboration with partners from Japan, Europe, the United States, and other regions, the company seeks to meet growing demand for defense technologies and enhance the security capabilities of various countries.

Terra Drone views the defense sector as a driver of technological innovation and economic growth. By integrating unmanned systems with AI, the company intends to establish infrastructure that strengthens defense capabilities, improves industrial competitiveness, and creates potential for civilian applications of these technologies. Going forward, Terra Drone plans to support the advancement of defense technologies in ways that contribute to global stability and security.
