The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) reported another successful drone strike targeting the Saky and Hvardiiske military airfields in temporarily occupied Crimea. According to the SSU, the operation was conducted as part of a 40-day campaign aimed at degrading Russian military capabilities.

In a statement published on the agency’s official Facebook page, the SSU reported that seven hangars housing military aircraft were hit at the Saky airfield. The facilities reportedly contained Su-30SM, Su-30, and Su-24 fighter and tactical bomber aircraft. Preliminary assessments indicate that at least seven aircraft were destroyed or damaged.

The SSU stated that this was the second successful strike on the Saky airfield within the same week. During the earlier attack, five drone impacts on aircraft hangars were reportedly confirmed. According to preliminary information, two of the hangars housed Su-30 and Su-30SM fighter aircraft at the time of the strike. A fire reportedly broke out in the hangar containing a Su-30SM, indicating that the target had been successfully engaged. The SSU added that each aircraft is estimated to be worth between USD 30 million and USD 50 million, depending on its configuration.

In addition, drones struck two hangars at the Hvardiiske military airfield. According to the SSU, the facilities were being used to store Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicles and aviation equipment at the time of the attack.

The agency noted that the Saky and Hvardiiske airfields are among the key aviation bases used by Russian occupation forces in Crimea. According to the SSU, these airfields regularly serve as launch points for tactical aircraft conducting missile and airstrike missions against targets in Ukraine, while also supporting the operations of Russian forces on the southern axis.

“The SSU continues to carry out the tasks assigned by the President of Ukraine and systematically reduce Russia’s military capabilities,” SSU Chief Yevhenii Khmara stated. “Each of our special operations deprives the enemy of aircraft, logistics assets, warehouses, equipment, and infrastructure that support Russia’s military aggression. We will continue to apply maximum pressure on the enemy, both along the front line and deep in its rear, reducing its ability to wage war against Ukraine.”

Separately, Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported another successful operation targeting critical Russian military infrastructure. According to Brovdi, during the night of July 3, the Unmanned Systems Forces engaged 48 targets, the majority of which were located in temporarily occupied Crimea. Among the reported targets were at least nine electrical substations in different populated areas.
