“Birds” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces successfully struck nine additional tanker vessels belonging to the Russian Federation’s illicit fleet in the waters of the Sea of Azov during the night of 8 July. According to information provided by the defenders, the total number of damaged ships over the past 72 hours has reached 21.
The statement was made by the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi, better known by the call sign “Madyar.” The commander confirmed that during the nighttime operation on 8 July, strike drones hit another nine oil tanker vessels operating in the Azov sector.

Brovdi provided a breakdown of the results achieved over the three-day period, reporting that 21 vessels had been put out of operation. The total included 19 fuel tankers, one cargo ship, and one ferry crossing located in Kerch. In his report, he stated that the air component of the Unmanned Systems Forces added another nine enemy vessels from Russia’s shadow fleet to its tally during the night of 8 July in the Sea of Azov. Overall, the number of targets struck over the 72-hour period reached 21.
The operation was carried out by the crews of the “Kairos” unit of the 414th Separate Brigade “Madyar’s Birds,” the 413th Separate Regiment “Raid,” and specialists from the 1st Separate Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces.

The commander also reported that, alongside the maritime targets, Ukrainian unmanned aerial systems conducted strikes on 53 items of enemy military infrastructure during the same night. The targets were located in the occupied Crimean Peninsula and in southern regions currently under temporary occupation.
In addition, he announced the successful destruction of six electrical substations as part of a special operation referred to as “Crimean Switch Off.” According to the statistics he provided, Ukrainian defenders have struck a total of 50 such energy facilities since the beginning of July.
In his statement, the military commander emphasized that, during the night, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces eliminated 53 military targets deep behind enemy lines in Crimea and in the southern occupied territories. As part of Operation “Crimean Switch Off,” an additional six transformer substations were struck that night, bringing the total number of damaged energy facilities to 50 between 1 and 8 July, excluding other vulnerable targets for which a detailed report is expected to be released later.
According to the statement, all of these strikes were coordinated by specialists from the recently established Deep Strike Center, which operates within the structure of the Unmanned Systems Forces.
