The United Kingdom has announced an additional £100 million (approximately $133 million) in support to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense. According to government officials, these funds will be used to protect cities and critical infrastructure from ongoing Russian attacks.
The new aid package was announced by the UK Prime Minister during a meeting of Joint Expeditionary Force leaders in Helsinki. With this decision, the total British support for Ukrainian air defense over the past two months has reached £600 million. The additional resources are expected to be deployed quickly, enhancing Ukraine’s capacity to counter aerial threats from Russia.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized that, “as long as Putin continues his abhorrent attacks across Ukraine, my message is clear – the UK’s support will not waver.” He added that the new aid package will help “protect millions of people in Ukraine from Russia’s brutal strikes on cities and homes.”
Meanwhile, UK Defence Secretary John Healey highlighted that the assistance will provide “critical air defense to protect civilians, cities, and key infrastructure from relentless Russian attacks.” He also pointed to the so-called “axis of aggression” between Russia and Iran as a factor currently shaping the security situation.

The new funding supplements a £500 million package announced in February. That earlier package included contributions to Ukraine’s NATO-prioritized needs, the delivery of over 1,000 light multi-role missiles, and support for industrial cooperation between the two countries. Additionally, under multilateral initiatives, 1,200 air defense missiles and 200,000 artillery shells are set to be provided.
