The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) carried out a successful operation in temporarily occupied territories, destroying two Russian light aircraft, according to the SBU’s Telegram channel. “Special forces from the ‘A’ Center for Special Operations of the Security Service of Ukraine have once again successfully neutralized enemy targets in temporarily occupied territories,” the statement said.

According to the agency, the aircraft destroyed by the special forces were used by Russian troops to intercept long-range Ukrainian drones. These planes had been deployed at airfields to detect and engage Ukrainian drones targeting military and infrastructure facilities deep behind enemy lines.

“This work to ‘clear the way’ for our long-range drones ensures continuous strikes in the Russian rear. The SBU continues to target the occupiers using all available means. Every crime they commit will be met with justice,” the agency emphasized. The SBU also noted that such operations are conducted regularly to reduce threats to Ukrainian drone systems and increase the effectiveness of their missions.

Earlier, on October 13, the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces, together with the SBU, carried out drone strikes on an oil terminal in temporarily occupied Feodosia, as well as on several power plants in Crimea. The operation caused significant explosions and widespread power outages across the peninsula.

Operators from the Unmanned Systems Directorate of the GUR (Main Intelligence Directorate) of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence recently tracked and precisely struck a modern Russian radar system, the “Valday.” The enemy had been using this complex to monitor airspace and coordinate actions against Ukrainian drones.

In this way, Ukrainian special services continue systematically to deprive the Russian army of capabilities to counter unmanned strikes, creating conditions for further operations deep in the adversary’s rear.
