Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschuk, Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, noted on his Facebook page that the Air Force strikes enemy targets in the Kursk direction daily. This time, he shared a video showing a Ukrainian fighter jet “denazifying an underground enemy command post.” The Air Force used an AASM Hammer guided bomb for this mission.

MiG-29 Hammer

The AASM Hammer is a French precision-guided munition developed by Safran Electronics & Defense. It is a kit that attaches to an unguided bomb, converting it into a guided one, with a flight range exceeding 70 km. The basic version consists of a nose module with a guidance system and a tail module with fins and a rocket booster, which are fitted to a 250-kilogram bomb. The guidance system includes an inertial navigation system and GPS.

In January 2024, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the provision of these bombs to Ukraine, along with additional SCALP EG missiles. Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu noted that Ukrainian MiG-29, Su-24, and Su-27 aircraft were adapted to carry these missiles.

Ukrainian pilots regularly strike enemy strongholds, equipment concentrations, as well as logistics centers and supply routes. Recently, Mykola Oleschuk released a video showing the Air Force destroying another bridge in the Kursk region with a precise strike. He thanked the pilots for their professionalism in depriving the enemy of logistical capabilities, which significantly impacts the course of the fighting.

During today’s address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is achieving its designated objectives in the Kursk direction. He emphasized that replenishing the exchange fund for Ukraine remains a priority.

Additionally, as reported by Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, the Verkhovna Rada today supported bill No. 11483, which grants and guarantees social rights to our military personnel carrying out missions on Russian territory.

“It doesn’t take many words; we all understand well that our soldiers are facing a tough situation. The operation in the Kursk region is one of the most challenging military operations that has already made history. Our guys need to feel our support in every way, including materially, every day,” stated Rustem Umerov on his Telegram channel.

It is noted that our military personnel carrying out missions in Russia will now receive the same payments and benefits as those on the front lines. This also applies to their families. The bill was introduced by the President of Ukraine as urgent, and it was immediately supported by the majority, with 321 votes in favor.
