On the night of June 5, personnel of the Unmanned Systems Forces carried out a successful strike against five civilian cargo vessels operating in the Sea of Azov. These vessels were reportedly used for the illegal transportation of Ukrainian goods from temporarily occupied territories. Details of the operation were provided by the head of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi, known by the call sign “Madyar.”

According to the commander, personnel of the First Separate Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces carried out strikes against tankers and dry cargo vessels operating from port areas in Berdyansk and Mariupol, as well as near the coastline of the occupied regions.
The commander stated that the occupiers had attempted to covertly steal Ukrainian grain crops, as well as transport fuel and lubricants and military-purpose equipment. To do so, these Black Sea operators allegedly obscured identifying markings on the hulls and completely disabled navigation radar systems. However, according to Robert Brovdi, such security measures no longer guarantee the protection of large and slow-moving objects, which are now treated as legitimate military targets. He further noted that this would not allow the occupying forces to maintain stable maritime transport, as their illicit logistics chains are intended to be disrupted.

This earlier operation was preceded by another successful attack. On June 4, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces struck a Russian border patrol vessel of the “Sviyaga” class, which was operating near the occupied Crimean peninsula in the area of the Kerch Strait. At the time of the operation, the vessel had its crew on board.
