Recently, the international Commercial UAV Expo 2025 took place in Las Vegas, where Ukraine showcased its national pavilion for the second consecutive year. Organized under the guidance of DroneUA and Futurology, the event highlighted the maturity and cohesion of the Ukrainian drone industry. Attendees had the opportunity to see the full spectrum of capabilities – from drone platform production, components, software, and service models to counter-drone technologies and solutions for integration into global systems.

Valeriy Yakovenko, co-founder and managing partner of DroneUA and Futurology, emphasized that participating in this forum goes far beyond showcasing technology. It serves as confirmation that Ukraine is setting the direction for the global drone industry. According to him, the Ukrainian pavilion, which brought together engineers, entrepreneurs, and manufacturers, reflected the internal stability of processes within the national drone sector.

“Today, our country is demonstrating development speeds that serve as a benchmark for other markets, while innovations created under dynamic conditions are defining the standards that will guide the global industry tomorrow. This is part of our broader mission, which we are advancing on the international stage,” Yakovenko highlighted.

With support from the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco, Diia.City United, the Lviv City Council, and IRON Cluster, under the Fleet of Millions initiative, the pavilion became a platform where diplomacy, government programs, municipal institutions, and business clusters worked in concert. This setup showcased that Ukrainian companies can enter the global market as a unified ecosystem – capable of maintaining a stable presence in the U.S. while integrating into international production processes.

Over the course of three days, the Ukrainian delegation presented a full spectrum of UAV solutions, spanning agricultural technologies and logistics to defense and emergency response applications. Participants in the pavilion included:

  • DroneUA | Futurology – integrators of drone technologies, robotics, energy solutions, and data analytics, focused on implementing solutions in agriculture, energy, infrastructure, security, and emergency response.
  • Bavovna – a dual-use company developing AI-based navigation solutions for alternative and hybrid navigation in cases of weak or unavailable GNSS signals.
  • AeroDrone – developer and manufacturer of unmanned aerial systems for cargo transport, long-range flights, and autonomous operations in logistics, monitoring, precision agriculture, rescue missions, and defense.
  • BlueBird – developer and manufacturer of drone technologies, electronic warfare systems, counter-drone solutions, signal boosters, ground relay stations, and related equipment.
  • BOXO – manufacturer of multifunctional cases designed to ensure the safe storage and transport of equipment.
  • FreeUAV – developer of drone solutions for search and rescue operations, geological surveys, infrastructure monitoring, and environmental observation.
  • Sine Engineering – developer of communication modules and solutions that enable drones to operate in GPS-denied environments, in electronic warfare zones, and for swarm UAV control.
  • BP United Inc. – developer and supplier of aerial and marine drones, security systems, defense technologies, and international logistics solutions.
  • Farsight Vision – developer of software and hardware for creating digital twins and real-time analytics for mission planning, reconnaissance, and monitoring.
  • Sky Tech Drjnes – company engaged in the production and maintenance of UAVs, conducting testing and scientific research in aviation and related technologies.

Ukraine’s production capacity, exceeding 5 million drones per year, along with more than 700 companies in the sector, highlights the strength and strategic depth of its drone industry – from manufacturing engines, sensors, controllers, optics, and antennas to developing software and counter-drone technologies.

A particular highlight was the panel discussion, “The $15 Billion Sky: How Agricultural Drones Are Driving America’s Next Tech Boom.” Participants analyzed the scale of the U.S. agricultural sector, covering over 350 million acres, and noted that drone-enabled operations in this space create a market potential of at least $15 billion. The discussion emphasized that drones are becoming a versatile tool for applying fertilizers and pesticides.

Experts noted that until recently, drones in agriculture were seen primarily as experimental tools. However, thanks to the openness of Ukrainian farmers to innovation and the absence of bureaucratic barriers, the market has grown significantly, and drones have proven their effectiveness. AeroDrone engineers focused on fixed-wing platforms capable of covering large areas and reducing costs, while John Deere highlighted the value of multirotor solutions for complex terrains. This demonstrates that drones not only compete with traditional equipment but also complement it effectively.

The highlight of the event was the panel discussion “Lessons from Ukraine: The Future of Commercial Drones and Counter-Drone Technologies.” Representatives from government, industry, and expert communities discussed the integration of drones into security, humanitarian, and civil sectors. Key topics included the development of new training programs for operators, localization of production, digital analytics, and the creation of counter-drone systems. Dmytro Shymkiv from AeroDrone emphasized that drone testing in Ukraine has become highly accessible – certification takes just weeks, and access to airfields for testing can be arranged within days, a process actively used by Western companies.

“Ukraine has extensive experience and significant achievements in the drone sector. We are even referred to as the ‘nation of drones.’ Recently, Ukraine proposed a so-called ‘Drone Agreement’ to the United States. Under this agreement, the U.S. could invest in the production of Ukrainian drones and receive systems tested in real operational conditions. In return, Ukraine would gain access to advanced American technologies and equipment,” said Dmytro Kushneruk, Ukraine’s Consul General in San Francisco.

He added that the agreement could strengthen both countries. “Additionally, we are seeing considerable interest from U.S. rapid-response agencies in drones for rescue operations in challenging conditions – smoke, strong winds, high temperatures, and so on. Ukrainian drones have significant potential in this market.”

Overall, the Commercial UAV Expo 2025 reinforced Ukraine’s status as a global leader in the drone industry. The national pavilion in Las Vegas served as a key meeting point for investors, integrators, and strategic partners, where global industry standards were discussed and Ukrainian technologies showcased both maturity and adaptability.
