ADASI introduced a RASH‑2M kit, that converts 120 mm shells into cruise bombs

EDGE, one of the world’s leading groups in advanced technologies and defence, presented its latest developments at the international defence industry exhibition Partner 2025, which took place in Belgrade at the end of September. Among the solutions on display was the RASH‑2M kit – a system for converting mortar ammunition into guided munitions, developed and designed by EDGE’s subsidiary ADASI, which is based in the UAE.

RASH-2M

The RASH‑2M kit converts 120 mm mortar rounds into winged bombs with a flight range of up to 18 km. With this system, forces can use conventional ammunition with high precision by converting 120 mm mortar rounds into glide munitions and integrating them with drones.

RASH-2M

The RASH kit consists of a standard mortar round fitted with a glide kit and a guidance system. As the manufacturer noted a couple of years ago, typical characteristics of a single glide element are: a total mass of about 14.5 kg and a wingspan of 1 m. The kit can be released from an altitude of up to 25,000 ft. After ejection, the wing unfolds from its stowed position and provides lift for gliding.

RASH‑2M has several notable advantages. These include a relatively low cost to upgrade existing ammunition, the ability to deploy at scale without needing a completely new weapons family, and integration with different platforms. The system lets forces quickly increase fire accuracy on the battlefield and improve tactical flexibility. At the same time, using such kits raises challenges around carrier compatibility, logistics, maintenance, and personnel training. In addition, as with any precision weapon system, careful assessment of tactical, legal, and ethical aspects of their use is required.

RASH-2M

In addition, EDGE demonstrated a whole portfolio of defence solutions at the exhibition, covering air systems, munitions, electro‑optics, radars, electronic warfare tools, and so on. The display included SHADOW 25 and SHADOW 50 unmanned systems, intended to deliver rapid, precise strikes against fixed targets, as well as the multi‑role heavy drone ANAVIA HT‑100 with vertical takeoff and landing. It is optimised for reconnaissance, surveillance and reconnaissance‑in‑force, logistics, search‑and‑rescue operations, and infrastructure monitoring.
