The DJI Neo could become one of the most intriguing drones the company has released in recent years. Insiders have shared new information that gives us a clearer picture of the device’s impressively small size and its potential compatibility with FPV goggles.

Popular drone insider Jasper Ellens shared two images of the box on his Twitter page, providing insights into the likely dimensions of the tiny drone. If the dimensions of 157×130×49 mm, which were accidentally published by a Mexican online store, are accurate, it will be the smallest drone in DJI’s lineup to date.

DJI Neo

On the other hand, it appears that the Neo won’t feature a foldable design like many other DJI drones. This means it won’t be significantly smaller or more portable than the DJI Mini 4 Pro when the latter is folded. Instead, it seems to be a scaled-down version of the DJI Avata 2.

Another insider compared the Neo to the Avata 2 on their Twitter page, placing the two drones side by side based on the leaked dimensions. It looks like the Neo will be much smaller in flight (and therefore more susceptible to strong winds), but won’t differ much from the Mini series drones in terms of portability.

Neo and Avata 2

Probably the biggest unanswered question about the Neo is whether it will support FPV goggles like the DJI Goggles 3. A screenshot of the software appears to show that the Neo has been added to the list of drones compatible with the Goggles 3. However, other insiders have previously suggested that the Neo might not feature FPV capabilities and could instead compete with drones like the HoverAir X1.

Neo

DJI Neo

On the other hand, a drone like the Neo, with its size and design, could certainly appeal to a niche audience. The company might position the Neo as an affordable and lightweight entry point for beginners, with the potential to add support for goggles like the DJI Goggles 3 as an additional feature later on. I’m sure we’ll find out for certain soon.
