Members of the 12th Azov Brigade released a video showing Ukrainian troops destroying a Russian truck using a new strike drone. The drone featured in the video is the latest Ukrainian development, the UAS SETH.
“This strike UAV is easy to operate, fully automated, and is already hitting enemy targets on the Toretsk front,” stated the Azov Brigade. “The most important thing is that it is produced in Ukraine. The first batch of UAS SETH was delivered to Azov by the ‘Come Back Alive’ charity foundation. With it, drone operators will be even more effective in targeting occupiers, their weapons, and equipment.” The drone’s specifications are not yet known.
On the page of the “Come Back Alive” charity foundation, it was added that the complex was acquired thanks to donations from supporters, and a link was provided for those who wish to contribute to the purchase of more new strike drones.
Drones have long been an essential tool in warfare. Earlier this year, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that drones “save the lives of our people and compensate for the shortage of other weapons, including artillery, allowing us to defend ourselves and destroy occupiers.” He thanked everyone involved in the production and supply of drones, as well as those training operators and seeking new technical solutions, thereby advancing the Ukrainian military.
According to him, Ukraine plans to continue expanding efforts in this area to ensure that technology helps the country achieve its objectives. Today, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense reported that the number of unmanned aerial vehicles supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine has significantly increased, and the ministry remains the largest purchaser of drones in the country.
“If in 2023 the Ministry of Defense purchased thousands of drones, by the end of 2024, together with the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, we have acquired over 1.5 million drones,” said Gleb Kanevsky, Director of the Procurement Policy Department of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
He added that 96% of this amount was paid to Ukrainian manufacturers and suppliers. This approach supports the continued development of Ukraine’s drone production industry. Kanevsky also noted that the numbers will be even higher this year, as the domestic defense-industrial complex has the capacity to produce about 4.5 million FPV drones. The ministry plans to procure them, with over 110 billion UAH (about $2.7 billion) allocated for drone purchases this year.
