Flights to Beirut have been suspended for a week following security concerns

As a result of the looming Israel and Lebanon conflict, flights to Beirut by various airlines have been suspended for a while. Airline companies in countries like Germany, France, Jordan, Turkey, and so on have moved to suspend flights into the region. This move is to protect passengers on board these flights coming into Beirut from other neighbouring and foreign countries.

A few hours ago, the Lufthansa Group of Germany announced that they suspended two flights to Beirut. This suspension will last till August 5th making it a week-long suspense hence affecting travel plans for customers. Because SWISS and Australian airlines are part of the Lufthansa Group, it’s also reasonable to expect that their airlines will also suspend all flights to Beirut.

Flights to Beirut

This delay or suspension in flights is not only affecting coming into Beirut but also flights leaving the Lebanese capital state. According to reports, about 28% of all flights departing from Beirut have been delayed and 10% have been cancelled entirely. Taking to their X page the US Travel State Department announced that “some airlines are adjusting their flight schedules in Lebanon”.

All of this is a result of Israel’s plans to retaliate against some rocket strikes into its region from Lebanon. This strike killed 12 young people that were in the basaltic plateau region of Golan Heights. According to Israeli intelligence, this attack comes from the Lebanese Hezbollah movement.

However, the Lebanese Hezbollah movement claims that they aren’t behind the strike on Israeli soil. Amid the growing tension within the two regions, most airlines with scheduled flights in and out of Lebanon are rescheduling their flight schedules. We hope that the tension between Lebanon and Israel cools off sooner without any conflict.
